Overview

ScrewBolt ID ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the ScrewBolt ID mobile application ("App") or visit screwboltid.com ("Site"), how we use it, and your choices regarding your information.

By using ScrewBolt ID you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Email address (when creating an account or joining the waitlist)
• Account credentials (username and password)
• Project names and saved fastener specifications
• Messages sent to the AI Fastener Assistant
• Support communications sent to our team

Information collected automatically:

• Device type, operating system, and device identifiers
• App usage data (features accessed, scan counts, session duration)
• Crash reports and performance data
• Subscription status and purchase history (processed by Apple/Google)

Camera & Images

The App requires camera access to photograph fasteners for identification. When you submit a photo for identification:

• The image is transmitted to our servers and the Anthropic Claude API for AI analysis
• The image is used solely to generate an identification result
• Images are not stored permanently after processing is complete
• Images are not used to train AI models
• Images are not shared with third parties except as required for the identification service

Camera access is only used when you actively initiate a scan. The App does not access your camera in the background.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the ScrewBolt ID service
• Process fastener identification requests
• Manage your account and subscription
• Send transactional emails (account confirmations, subscription receipts)
• Send product updates and launch communications (with your consent)
• Diagnose technical issues and improve App performance
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Information Sharing

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: We share data with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the App, including Anthropic (AI processing), RevenueCat (subscription management), and MailerLite (email marketing). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business transfers: If ScrewBolt ID is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

Email Marketing

We use MailerLite to manage our email subscriber list and send communications. When you submit your email address through the App or Site, it is transmitted to and stored by MailerLite.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at info@screwboltid.com.

Affiliate Links

The App contains links to third-party retailers including Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's, McMaster-Carr, and Grainger. These are affiliate links — we may earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links at no additional cost to you.

When you tap a retailer link, you are directed to that retailer's website or app. Your interactions with those retailers are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not receive your purchase or payment information from these retailers.

ScrewBolt ID is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Our Amazon affiliate ID is screwboltid-20.

Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements.

We do not store your payment card information. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and saved data for as long as your account is active. Camera images submitted for identification are not permanently stored. If you delete your account, your personal information is deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Email subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

ScrewBolt ID is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@screwboltid.com and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify you through the App or by email where appropriate.

Your continued use of ScrewBolt ID after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
